Top 5 Features Every Contributor Should Know

We have so many great features across all of our sites that can be so helpful to all of our contributors. Here is a great summary of some of the best!

Import Tool

With our import tool, it's easier to upload your posts from your blog than ever before! Just go to "Post a Project" on Hometalk, Foodtalk or Upstyle, add your blog link, and voila! Watch the magic happen.

DIY Forum

Do you have a DIY related question? On Hometalk, we have a fantastic DIY forum where you can ask anything DIY related to all of our contributors. You can be sure your question will be answered with many helpful replies.

You can also read through our collection of already answered questions and browse by topic.

Social Media Links

On every single post, you can link to your social media channels which will allow your readers to easily follow you across the web!

To make sure your social links are updated, just go to your profile, account settings and click on “social media”. Here you can fill in all of your relevant links. You need to copy the entire URL and paste it in the relevant box. It should look something like this:

Once you fill in your links, your profile and each post will have social buttons that link to your social media channels.

Save a Project

Did you know that you can save a post that you like for later? If you scroll down to the end of the post you will see the following:

Click the “wow” button to let the contributor know that you loved their project.

Click the “save” button to save the project to look back on later. You can find these posts in your “saved projects”:

You can also click the thumbtack icon if you would like to pin the project to your Pinterest page. This is also a great way to save projects.

If you want the post as a hard copy, just click the “print” button.

Edit Posts

Want to make some changes to your posts? No problem! Click on the three dots next to your project title, and you’ll see the option to “Edit post”.

Once you have made your edits, just press “submit” again and the changes will be saved.
